Beauty products literally compete with each other.

Everyday, the advertisements reveal new beauty products which are advanced yet are made with complex ingredients. Having said this, I am sure we all have come across these two ingredients/chemicals: Paraben and Sulphate, at some moment in our lives. But yet, we donot know clearly about them, or if they actually are harmful or useful?

We will give you an authentic and honest explanation of what these are. COME ON IN WITH US!

What exactly are parabens?

Parabens are currently in the spotlight, and into lot of controversies. Parabens are the artificial chemical preservatives that are mixed into the ingredients of your cosmetics and skin care products. These are basically used to cut down the growth of bacteria and fungus in the products and increase the shelf-life of these products. These not only keep the products stable for longer terms, but also are effective in short run. Mind it, something that is effective in short run is going to be extremely harmful in the long run.

Moisturizers, face and skin cleansers, shampoos, toners, foaming face washes, fragrant body washes etc, all contain these parabens. They are absorbed into the body through the epidermis, metabolized and excreated into the bile and urine. A scientific studied held in adults in USA, found out that almost 90% of the people had parabens in their urine samples.

Parabens are so strong and harmful that they badly disrupt the production of hormones in your body.

What exactly are sulphates?

Just like parabens, this word ‘sulphates’ are so much into heat these days. It is the salt produced when sulfuric acid reacts with another chemical. In other words, these are the synthetic sulfate-based chemicals.

These are the salts that are basically believed to remove the dirt and dandruff from your skin and hair, giving you better and cleaner hair and skin instantly. But again as I stated, chemicals are useful in short run but can be extremely harmful in long run.

Sulphates can rip off the necessary oils from your skin and hair. It causes dry and frizzy hair, makes the skin itchy, red and crack off your skin. In few instances, it has also caused skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis.

Other names for Parabens and Sulphates

Sometimes, the brands inorder to increase their customer base, disguise these synthetic chemicals with different names.

BE AWARE!

Parabens are also named as; methyparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben and ethylparaben.

Sulphates can be disguised as; sodium laureth sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate, or ammonium laureth sulfate.

Benefits of Paraben-free shampoo

No chemical is ever good for your body at any cost! Although sometimes, we need mild chemicals for few purposes, but a chemical like Paraben is sure to affect your skin and hormones.

Paraben-free shampoos can be beneficial in the following ways;

Scalp health:

Paraben-free shampoos are very mild and soft, which helps the scalp to breathe and rough and scratchy scalp.

Hairfall:

One of the most common problem of today! But hold on, paraben-free shampoo not only helps in strengthening the hair, but also prevents hairfall and thinning of hair.

Inner health:

Parabens are believed to enter the body through skin and cause hormonal and reproductive problems. Thus, paraben-free shampoos will avoid any of these problems, thus not risking your health.

Gleeful environment:

How can we be so selfish to forget our mother Earth? Apart from your own health, parabens also degrade the quality of our environment. They when disposed off, absorb down into the earth causing soil erosion and bad crops. Who is ultimately consuming those crops?

Tension-free:

Why to risk your health and be tensed about it all the time, when you have a natural alternative to it? Thus, no parabens means happy you and healthy you!

Should moisturizers be Paraben-free?

This question is same as asking, Should I take vaccination during COVID-19?

Of course, parabens in itself is a disastrous word. It just absorbs into your skin and cause hormonal and reproductive problems.

Why Parabens are harmful?

Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives, which absorb deep down into your skin, mixes into the blood and cause hormonal and reproductive organs. They also cause skin irritation, itching, redness and roughness.

Why sulphates are harmful?

Sulphates are the harsh salts which are produced when sulphuric acid reacts with some other chemical, thus intensifying the harm of sulphuric acid.

Sulphates can be harmful from itching, redness, roughness in short run to hospitalizations, minimizing ling function, triggered asthma in the lon run.

How harmful can parabens be in long term?

Parabens disrupt the hormones in the body and harm fertility and reproductive organs. In the long run, these chemicals can affect birth outcome and increase the risk of cancer.

Is propylparaben safe?

Few researches show that propylparaben is safe in cosmetics, but since it is a by-product of paraben, it can absorb in the skin, causing hormonal imbalance and infertility.

To put all of it in a nutshell, Natural healing is always a long-term benefit, but it’s permanent. Short-term benefits, on the opposite side, are harmful in the long run.
